Think you know your steel? Steel Wordle is a free daily word game, similar to Wordle but built entirely around structural steel terms. Every day we pick a new word from the world of steel: members, connections, welding, coatings, failure modes, design, detailing, etc. Guess it in six tries.
There’s a twist. Every wrong guess removes a member from the steel frame above the board, and six misses bring the whole structure down. Can you keep it standing?
How to play
- Type a steel term and press Enter. The word length changes from day to day, between 4 and 9 letters.
- Orange means the letter is in the right spot. Gold means it’s in the word but in a different spot. Gray means it isn’t in the word.
- After 2 guesses we reveal the category (element, connection, process, failure, property, design or detailing). After 4 guesses we reveal a short definition.
- Each wrong guess removes one member from the frame.
- When the game ends, tap “Read more on SteelExplained” to learn about the term, or share your result grid with colleagues.
A new word appears every day, and your streak is saved in your browser. Want more? Use “Play a practice word” after you finish.
Steel Wordle is made by SteelExplained.com, where we explain structural steel design, detailing and fabrication. Each word in the game links to an article that explains it in depth, so you can learn as you play.
